Podcasts are quickly becoming my favourite way to spend my free time. Well, even my occupied time! That’s the beauty of podcasts; as a productivity lover they are just a dream, letting you consume loads of info on the go. As much as I love books, reading whilst walking over the bridge to work would result in me either face-planting multiple angry commuters, or finding myself a bit soggy from a accidental swim in the Thames. Commuting, cleaning & cooking have all been made a lot more interesting thanks to my discovery of the below podcasts. If you’re looking to nourish your brain with some engaging content, these are the podcasts you need to download…
I stumbled across ‘The influencer podcast’ unintentionally and subscribed without ever actually sitting down to listen to an episode. It would always automatically play straight after my then fave podcast finished and I won’t lie – I didn’t make it through the cheesy american intro for weeks. Super judgemental I know, but the super upbeat, glossy beginning was NOT a match for sassy, sleep deprived, pre-coffee Leela. It was a no from me. Finally, I made persisted through the first 2 minutes and omg, it was so worth it! You know that whole, ‘Don’t judge a book by it’s cover?’, yep it definitely applies to podcasts too.
In the first episode I listened to, I learnt so much about how to turn my blog into a successful business. I quickly went from a one time listener to a Julie Solomon superfan, and now I fully engage with her website full of helpful tip sheets and resources too! I can honestly say that her resources as a whole have completely transformed my process of pitching and branding. I now look back at what I was doing before and just think ‘WHAT were you doing girl?!’ It’s a must not just for influencers, but for anyone who’s self employed or in any career where pitching is crucial.
I know the name of this podcast is gonna turn all non fitness fanatics off, but wait! Don’t hit that exit button just yet. I solemnly swear that this is not a meat head podcast. Ben’s tagline; ‘your greatest life, in your greatest mind, in your greatest body’ is something we surely all want! Ben, and his guests, are some of the smartest people I’ve ever listened to. I have literally become addicted to this podcast because it is just brain porn. I feel like I learn so much in every 60min podcast! I’ve said it before but if you understand yourself; how your body and brain works, you understand life and you will smash whatever you do! Whatever your goal, you can’t achieve it without a healthy body and healthy mind – agreed?
This podcast covers all areas from nutrition to hacking your brain and finding your purpose. I started listening to it as an attempt to aid my fitness business but I’m now fully addicted and have backtracked through all the old episodes so I can listen to it every single day!
Okay so this one won’t necessarily make you smarter, but it will entertain you a helluva lot, and who doesn’t want that? More of a popular culture podcast, I love listening to this on the way to the gym or whilst i’m doing boring jobs like cleaning around the house. Millie & Sophie chat about all things current and it makes me feel like i’m having a gossip with a couple of mates. You know that feeling when there’s a social media scandal, massive drama on ‘love island’ or even something political going on and you just wanna have a debrief and discuss with people around you? This podcast is exactly like that! As two twenty-somethings, like me, I love to see where we agree and disagree on current issues and its really interesting to hear different points of view. One thing I truly love about them is that they are so transparent and honest. As a bit of an oversharer myself, I really connect with this and I think it’s quite refreshing and endearing. Finally, this podcast isn’t just a bit of fun, they’ve also shared some really cool insights and tips related to the blogging industry which have helped me a lot in my business!
The Goal Digger is great as a more versatile podcast! Jenna shares anecdotal business tips and advice that is applicable to loaaaaads of different businesses, rather than exclusively blogging. Her personality shines through the, (erm… speaker?!), and her witty down to earth tone makes it an easy going and not too heavy listen. With everything from building an online brand to paying yourself as an entrepreneur, Jenna offers so much to learn across all spectrums. As a self made millionaire who sometimes appears to have it all, she is a massive inspiration to me and a great reminder on down days, that it can be done!
So this one is a little more fitting for it’s name. It’s probably not for people uninterested in fitness! More of a niche podcast than the ‘muscle expert podcast’ which seems to have branched out to cover wellness in general, this one is so informative for fitness lovers! I’m a relatively new listener to this one, but again, I’ve quickly become addicted. It contains loads of easy to digest info on everything from specific lifts to styles of dieting and different training systems. I find it a great one to keep my knowledge up to date so that I can keep constantly refining my approach to my clients’ programming and nutrition. It’s definitely a bit more easy going than the ‘muscle expert podcast’, and more accessible for fitness newbies! Mike’s sarcastic sense of humour is very up my street so I find his sassy little remarks very entertaining. Not one for the easily offended though!
